The average export price for cotton yarn (other than sewing thread), put up for retail sale stood at $85,366 per ton in April 2024, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2023 an increase of 13% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $88,494 per ton in December 2023; however, from January 2024 to April 2024, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In April 2024, the country with the highest price was France ($97,543 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States amounted to $80,410 per ton.

From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+1.0%).

In 2022, the average import price for cotton yarn (other than sewing thread), put up for retail sale amounted to $12,595 per ton, rising by 2.4% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $15,872 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 127% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $46M, and then contracted in the following year.
