Price for Crab and Crab Meat in Australia (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average crab and crab meat import price amounted to $12,884 per ton, picking up by 24% against the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 35% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $15,648 per ton. From February 2023 to September 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Chile ($34,158 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($7,604 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Chile (+12.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average crab and crab meat export price stood at $17,154 per ton in September 2023, reducing by -5.6% against the previous month. In general, the export price saw a pronounced descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 127% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $67,960 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($41,158 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($6,662 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
