Price for Crab and Crab Meat in Germany (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average crab and crab meat import price amounted to $17,677 per ton, waning by -16.3% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a slight increase from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, crab and crab meat import price decreased by -27.9% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 73% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $24,501 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($30,312 per ton), while the price for Italy ($3,423 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+24.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Crab and Crab Meat in Germany (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average crab and crab meat export price amounted to $25,661 per ton, growing by 40% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 95% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $45,548 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Italy ($60,619 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($3,612 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Crab and Crab Meat in Germany
Crab and crab meat imports into Germany surged to 700 tons in 2022, increasing by 45% against the previous year. Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +75.5% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
