Price for Crab and Crab Meat in the UK (FOB) - 2023
The average crab and crab meat export price stood at $6,522 per ton in August 2023, declining by -8.3% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 29% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $10,860 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($8,523 per ton), while the average price for exports to Ireland ($4,754 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average crab and crab meat import price stood at $6,284 per ton in August 2023, shrinking by -25.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price showed a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 105% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $12,712 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Bangladesh ($17,908 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($3,027 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ireland (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
