In 2022, the average crab and crab meat import price amounted to $34,038 per ton, with an increase of 148% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a buoyant increase. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($82,540 per ton), while the price for the UK ($11,350 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+38.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average crab and crab meat export price stood at $9,520 per ton in 2022, flattening at the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $13,134 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Egypt ($16,693 per ton), while the average price for exports to Australia ($7,301 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+18.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Crab and Crab Meat in the United Arab Emirates
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of crabs and crab meat, when their volume decreased by -70.1% to 235 tons.
