In 2022, the average import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds amounted to $7,753 per ton, picking up by 19% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 33%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $8,088 per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($13,094 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($3,255 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Russia (+22.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth year in a row, Azerbaijan recorded growth in supplies from abroad of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds, which increased by 15% to 126 tons in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +21.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +78.1% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds surged to $974K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
