Price for Crustaceans, Molluscs and Other Aquatic Invertebrates, Prepared or Preserved in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022

In March 2022, the average export price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds amounted to $13,486 per ton, waning by -3.6% against the previous month. Over the period from March 2021 to March 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2021 when the average export price increased by 13% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $14,006 per ton in July 2021; however, from August 2021 to March 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Canada ($14,615 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($9,449 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds stood at $21,945 per ton in March 2022, with a decrease of -26.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a modest expansion from March 2021 to March 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2022 figures, import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds increased by +56.6% against December 2021 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2021 an increase of 56% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $29,798 per ton in February 2022, and then reduced remarkably in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($39,484 per ton), while the price for South Korea ($6,055 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the UK (+20.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 19% against the previous year.

In value terms, exports of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds fell to $1.1B in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +44.2% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 33%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.2B, and then fell in the following year.
