In December 2022, the average import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds amounted to $10,652 per ton, declining by -4.1% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated pronounced growth from January 2022 to December 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2022 figures, import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds increased by +17.6% against August 2022 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 an increase of 118% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $11,111 per ton in November 2022, and then contracted in the following month.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2022, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($11,001 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($3,480 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+13.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds, when their volume decreased by -15% to 71 tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 38% against the previous year.

In value terms, imports of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds declined to $706K in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 15%.
