The average import price for dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds stood at $1,527 per ton in December 2023, picking up by 4.7% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a slight expansion from December 2022 to December 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on December 2023 figures, import price for dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds decreased by -24.9% against September 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 38% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,383 per ton. From May 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Chile ($3,208 per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($385 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds stood at $1,580 per ton in December 2023, dropping by -13.5% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 148% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,666 per ton. From February 2023 to December 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($9,677 per ton), while the average price for exports to Macao SAR ($326 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds, when their volume increased by 9.1% to 576K tons. Overall, imports, however, recorded a deep contraction.
In value terms, imports of dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds contracted to $1B in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 6.3%.
