The average import price for dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds stood at $1,418 per ton in January 2024, reducing by -12.4% against the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2023 when the average import price increased by 41% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,619 per ton, and then declined in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($3,137 per ton), while the price for Thailand ($335 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In January 2024, the average export price for dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds amounted to $632 per ton, rising by 2% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated modest growth from January 2023 to January 2024: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on January 2024 figures, export price for dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds increased by +15.1% against October 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 34% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $899 per ton. From April 2023 to January 2024, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($1,094 per ton), while the average price for exports to China ($389 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds, when their volume decreased by -8.4% to 100K tons. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 30%.
In value terms, imports of dates, figs, pineapples, avocados, guavas, mangoes and mangosteens; fresh or drieds fell to $105M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 19%.
