Price for Decaffeinated or Roasted Coffee in Ukraine (CIF) - 2022
The average decaffeinated or roasted coffee import price stood at $5,444 per ton in 2022, surging by 19% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a slight reduction. The import price peaked at $6,477 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($8,755 per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($3,163 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Decaffeinated or Roasted Coffee in Ukraine (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average decaffeinated or roasted coffee export price amounted to $8,014 per ton, growing by 20% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a mild reduction. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $9,028 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Azerbaijan ($9,250 per ton) and Moldova ($8,659 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($6,644 per ton) and Belarus ($7,052 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Imports of Decaffeinated or Roasted Coffee in Ukraine
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of coffee (decaffeinated or roasted) decreased by -9.4% to 22K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 25%.
In value terms, decaffeinated or roasted coffee imports rose notably to $119M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +12.3% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports of Decaffeinated or Roasted Coffee in Ukraine
In 2022, overseas shipments of coffee (decaffeinated or roasted) decreased by -38.4% to 158 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports saw a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 24%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 257 tons, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, decaffeinated or roasted coffee exports reduced notably to $1.3M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $1.7M, and then dropped significantly in the following year.

Coffee prices remain highly volatile. In 2022, the average annual price for Arabica is forecast to decline thanks to expected production growth, while Robusta price will go up on skyrocketed demand from consumers, preferring cheaper alternatives to more expensive counterparts.
