Price for Detergents and Washing Preparation in the United States (FOB) - 2024
The average detergents and washing preparation export price stood at $3,036 per ton in April 2024, picking up by 4.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2023 an increase of 8.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $3,070 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to April 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In April 2024, the country with the highest price was China ($6,190 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($2,428 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Price for Detergents and Washing Preparation in the United States (CIF) - 2024
The average detergents and washing preparation import price stood at $1,901 per ton in April 2024, shrinking by -1.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2023 an increase of 6.3% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,933 per ton in March 2024, and then contracted modestly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In April 2024, the country with the highest price was Germany ($4,795 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($574 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Detergents and Washing Preparation in the United States
In 2022, overseas shipments of detergents and washing preparations decreased by -68.7% to 290K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports showed a precipitous descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 2.8%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 991K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, detergents and washing preparation exports declined significantly to $1.2B in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 8.1% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $2.3B.
