Price for Dithionites and Sulphoxylates; of Sodium in Germany (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for dithionites and sulphoxylates; of sodia stood at $2,413 per ton in August 2023, which is down by -13.6% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 16% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $3,349 per ton. From February 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($4,802 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($1,179 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+0.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for dithionites and sulphoxylates; of sodia stood at $2,482 per ton in August 2023, increasing by 11% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 157% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,837 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($3,265 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($2,141 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+10.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Dithionites and Sulphoxylates; of Sodium in Germany
For the third consecutive year, Germany recorded decline in overseas shipments of dithionites and sulphoxylates; of sodia, which decreased by -20.8% to 28K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a precipitous shrinkage. The smallest decline of -12.6% was in 2021.
In value terms, dithionites and sulphoxylates; of sodium exports expanded rapidly to $79M in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a abrupt shrinkage.
