The average import price for dithionites and sulphoxylates; of sodia stood at $1,825 per ton in 2022, surging by 40% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, dithionites and sulphoxylates; of sodium import price increased by +75.9% against 2017 indices. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average export price increased by 11%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,019 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Indonesia.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Indonesia amounted to +40.8% per year.
Imports of Dithionites and Sulphoxylates; of Sodium in Sri Lanka
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of dithionites and sulphoxylates; of sodia decreased by -31.8% to 868 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 70%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 1.3K tons, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.
