Price for Driving and Non-Driving Axle in Japan (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average driving and non-driving axle export price amounted to $9,340 per ton, dropping by -3.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 7.8% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $9,648 per ton in August 2023, and then fell in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($23,988 per ton), while the average price for exports to the United Arab Emirates ($1,951 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+1.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In September 2023, the average driving and non-driving axle import price amounted to $6,877 per ton, remaining constant against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in July 2023 an increase of 5.7% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $6,934 per ton in August 2023, and then contracted in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($13,063 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($2,788 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
