Price for Electric Board, Desk and Panel in Australia (CIF) - 2023

The average import price for electrical boards, panels, consoles, desks and cabinets stood at $56.5 per unit in August 2023, reducing by -64.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2023 an increase of 1,734% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $158 per unit in July 2023, and then declined significantly in the following month.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the countries with the highest prices were India ($3.9 per unit) and the United States ($3.9 per unit), while the price for Singapore ($3.9 per unit) and China ($3.9 per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for electrical boards, panels, consoles, desks and cabinets amounted to $3.7 per unit, rising by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 65%. The export price peaked at $11 per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were the Philippines ($3.7 per unit) and Brunei Darussalam ($3.7 per unit), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($3.7 per unit) and Thailand ($3.7 per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to New Zealand (-3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +62.9% against 2019 indices. In value terms, electric board, desk and panel imports surged to $68M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.9% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +76.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 34%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
