In 2022, the average import price for electric motors amounted to $1.7 per unit, approximately mirroring the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $3.7 per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($3.8 per unit), while the price for Italy ($1.2 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-9.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average export price for electric motors stood at $25 per unit in 2022, shrinking by -21.4% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a tangible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 64% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $32 per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($63 per unit), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($13 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+19.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +19.1% over the last three-year period. In value terms, imports of electric motors declined to $9.6M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure at $10M in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In 2022, overseas shipments of electric motors increased by 6.6% to 22K units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, faced a sharp reduction. The exports peaked at 275K units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, exports of electric motors shrank significantly to $546K in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 40% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $7.8M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.
