Price for Electronic Integrated Circuits and Microassemblies in China (CIF) - 2023

The average import price for electronic integrated circuits and microassemblieses stood at $753 per thousand units in June 2023, surging by 13% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 16% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $0.9 per unit. From January 2023 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($1.4 per unit), while the price for Germany ($138 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for electronic integrated circuits and microassemblieses stood at $466 per thousand units in June 2023, approximately reflecting the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 15% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $644 per thousand units in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($1.7 per unit), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($76.0 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Electronic Integrated Circuits and Microassemblies in China

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of electronic integrated circuits and microassemblieses, when their volume decreased by -14.6% to 932M units. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.1B units, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, electronic integrated circuits and microassemblies imports rose remarkably to $416.5B in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +55.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, electronic integrated circuits and microassemblies exports shrank slightly to $154.5B in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +51.3% against 2019 indices.
