Price for Electronic Integrated Circuits; Memories in Thailand (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the average electronic integrated circuits; memories import price amounted to $2.2 per unit, shrinking by -6% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated noticeable growth from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, electronic integrated circuits; memories import price increased by +3.1% against May 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 an increase of 72% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2.9 per unit. From April 2023 to July 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($10.3 per unit), while the price for the Philippines ($709 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+11.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average electronic integrated circuits; memories export price amounted to $1.0 per unit, rising by 7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average export price increased by 18% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1.3 per unit in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($1.1 per unit), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($716 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports of Electronic Integrated Circuits; Memories in Thailand

In 2022, overseas purchases of electronic integrated circuits decreased by -5.9% to 441M units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +18.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +65.3% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 41%. Imports peaked at 469M units in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, electronic integrated circuits; memories imports dropped slightly to $801M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +24.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +94.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 56%. Imports peaked at $833M in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In 2022, the amount of electronic integrated circuits exported from Thailand skyrocketed to 473M units, increasing by 29% compared with 2021 figures. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +64.6% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, electronic integrated circuits; memories exports expanded rapidly to $552M in 2022. In general, exports, however, faced a significant decrease. The exports peaked at $1.1B in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
