In July 2023, the average import price for embroidery; in the piece, in strips or in motifses amounted to $26,438 per ton, falling by -32.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average import price increased by 371% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $39,359 per ton in June 2023, and then reduced sharply in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was India ($56,927 per ton), while the price for Lesotho ($4,039 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+11.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average export price for embroidery; in the piece, in strips or in motifses stood at $9,299 per ton in 2022, reducing by -33.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 104%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $16,503 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Mozambique ($17,925 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lesotho ($4,073 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mozambique (-2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, overseas purchases of embroidery; in the piece, in strips or in motifses were finally on the rise to reach 217 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a sharp descent.

Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, exports of embroidery; in the piece, in strips or in motifses surged to $340K in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
