In November 2023, the average import price for ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps amounted to $597 per ton, which is down by -5.9% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 18% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $735 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to November 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Poland ($698 per ton), while the price for Spain ($408 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In November 2023, the average export price for ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps amounted to $282 per ton, falling by -3.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 45% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $428 per ton. From February 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was France ($894 per ton), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($170 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovenia (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Ethylene Polymers; Waste, Parings and Scrap in Italy
After three years of growth, overseas purchases of ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps decreased by -1% to 80K tons in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +14.2% over the last three-year period. In value terms, imports of ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps skyrocketed to $67M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 88%. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
