In 2022, the average import price for ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps amounted to $511 per ton, rising by 25% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a mild downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 53%. The import price peaked at $768 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($905 per ton), while the price for France ($309 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Nigeria (+12.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In November 2023, the average export price for ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps amounted to $316 per ton, rising by 16% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 17% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $439 per ton. From February 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Portugal ($709 per ton), while the average price for exports to Indonesia ($198 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Myanmar (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
