The average import price for fabrics, woven; containing 85% or more by weight of non-textured polyester filamentses stood at $5.2 per square meter in May 2024, increasing by 2.3% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2023 an increase of 94% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $8.1 per square meter in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to May 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2024, the country with the highest price was Japan ($28.7 per square meter), while the price for China ($3.9 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

From May 2023 to May 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (0.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

In 2022, the average export price for fabrics, woven; containing 85% or more by weight of non-textured polyester filamentses amounted to $1.3 per square meter, growing by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average export price increased by 111%. The export price peaked at $3.7 per square meter in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($5.1 per square meter), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($590 per thousand square meters) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+80.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of fabrics, woven; containing 85% or more by weight of non-textured polyester filamentses increased by 51% to 6.4M square meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of fabrics, woven; containing 85% or more by weight of non-textured polyester filamentses surged to $7.5M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
