Price for Ferrous Waste and Scrap; of Cast Iron in Poland (FOB) - 2022

The average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; of cast ira stood at $430 per ton in 2022, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a mild descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 67%. The export price peaked at $500 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($451 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($283 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Estonia (+24.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for ferrous waste and scrap; of cast ira stood at $429 per ton in November 2023, increasing by 20% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a pronounced expansion from November 2022 to November 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on November 2023 figures, import price for ferrous waste and scrap; of cast ira increased by +27.0% against September 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 40% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $595 per ton. From July 2023 to November 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Ukraine.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Germany amounted to +2.1% per month.

In 2022, overseas shipments of ferrous waste and scrap; of cast ira decreased by -11.4% to 267K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.5% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -12.9% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 68%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 307K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of ferrous waste and scrap; of cast ira declined to $115M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 64%.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +61.6% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 30%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
