The average import price for ferrous waste and scrap; of stainless steels stood at $1,838 per ton in December 2023, which is down by -3.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in October 2023 when the average import price increased by 55% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,144 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to December 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In December 2023, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($1,588 per ton), while the price for Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to $1,023 per ton.

From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $1,480 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to November 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,849 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($1,132 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+6.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
