In 2022, the average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; of stainless steels amounted to $545 per ton, rising by 9.9% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a strong expansion from 2015 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last seven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($2,411 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($2,227 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Cyprus (+27.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, overseas shipments of ferrous waste and scrap; of stainless steels decreased by -36.4% to 6.6K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 102%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 10K tons, and then fell remarkably in the following year.
