In August 2023, the average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; remelting scrap ingots of iron or steels amounted to $389 per ton, waning by -9.9% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 28% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $586 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was India ($1,440 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($346 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
