In August 2023, the average export price for ferrous waste and scrap; remelting scrap ingots of iron or steels amounted to $552 per ton, surging by 11% against the previous month. Over the last ten months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2%. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 17% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $626 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was India ($805 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bangladesh ($366 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
