The average export price for fibres; synthetic filament tow, acrylic or modacrylics stood at $4,930 per ton in April 2024, reducing by -44.7% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a pronounced setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2024 when the average export price increased by 102% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $10,956 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to April 2024, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In April 2024, the countries with the highest prices were Kenya ($5,615 per ton) and South Africa ($5,039 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nigeria ($4,725 per ton) and Ghana ($4,827 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From April 2023 to April 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+9.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for fibres; synthetic filament tow, acrylic or modacrylics stood at $6,082 per ton in April 2024, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2023 an increase of 98% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $6,873 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to April 2024, import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Thailand.
From April 2023 to April 2024, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Japan amounted to +14.3% per month.

Exports of fibres; synthetic filament tow, acrylic or modacrylics from Malaysia declined markedly to 15K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -25.2% against 2021.
