The average import price for fibres; synthetic filament tow, acrylic or modacrylics stood at $2,672 per ton in April 2024, with a decrease of -5% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a slight decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2023 an increase of 6.6% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $3,418 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to April 2024, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Turkey.
From April 2023 to April 2024, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Turkey amounted to -1.9% per month.

In 2022, overseas purchases of fibres; synthetic filament tow, acrylic or modacrylics decreased by -0.1% to 1.4K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 1.4K tons, leveling off in the following year.
In value terms, imports of fibres; synthetic filament tow, acrylic or modacrylics rose to $5M in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 118% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
