The average export price for fish; edible offal, fish heads, tails and mawses stood at $10,517 per ton in 2022, waning by -17.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $20,731 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Macao SAR ($15,693 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($2,866 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
