The average export price for fish; edible offal, fish heads, tails and mawses stood at $27,686 per ton in February 2024, rising by 7.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2023 an increase of 36% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $32,553 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to February 2024, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In February 2024, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($28,429 per ton), while the average price for exports to China totaled $16,934 per ton.
From February 2023 to February 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (-1.5%).
