In 2022, the average export price for fish; edible offal, fish heads, tails and mawses amounted to $11,739 per ton, dropping by -22% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 210% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $15,046 per ton in 2021, and then declined remarkably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($28,450 per ton), while the average price for exports to Uganda ($83 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+15.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

After two years of decline, shipments abroad of fish; edible offal, fish heads, tails and mawses increased by 51% to 4.7K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a drastic downturn.
In value terms, exports of fish; edible offal, fish heads, tails and mawses skyrocketed to $55M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
