The average export price for fish fillets; frozen, flat fish (pleuronectidae, bothidae, cynoglossidae, soleidae, scophthalmidae and citharidae)s stood at $6,463 per ton in 2022, jumping by 18% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 176%. The export price peaked at $7,496 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to the UK ($7,722 per ton) and Liberia ($7,297 per ton), while the average price for exports to Marshall Islands ($5,311 per ton) and Singapore ($5,800 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Liberia (+23.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the import price posted pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $4,557 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to +2.1% per year.

In 2022, overseas shipments of fish fillets; frozen, flat fish (pleuronectidae, bothidae, cynoglossidae, soleidae, scophthalmidae and citharidae)s decreased by -48.1% to 1.3 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, saw resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 80%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 2.5 tons, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, exports of fish fillets; frozen, flat fish (pleuronectidae, bothidae, cynoglossidae, soleidae, scophthalmidae and citharidae)s reduced sharply to $8.5K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 94%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $14K, and then fell markedly in the following year.
