In 2022, the average fish; live, ornamental, freshwater import price amounted to $20,889 per ton, with a decrease of -10.2% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a abrupt decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average import price increased by 17%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $34,714 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($556,833 per ton), while the price for Lebanon ($5,411 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+24.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
