In June 2023, the average fish; live, ornamental, freshwater export price amounted to $460K per ton, growing by 4.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 85% against the previous month. The export price peaked in June 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Spain ($697K per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($121K per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Norway (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average fish; live, ornamental, freshwater import price stood at $179,254 per ton in 2022, waning by -11.7% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated pronounced growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, fish; live, ornamental, freshwater import price decreased by -21.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 47%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $228,920 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($853,725 per ton), while the price for Kenya ($17,857 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+12.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Fish; Live, Ornamental, Freshwater in the Czech Republic
For the third consecutive year, the Czech Republic recorded decline in shipments abroad of fish; live, ornamental, freshwater, which decreased by -25.2% to 96 tons in 2022. In general, exports faced a drastic downturn. The smallest decline of -10% was in 2021.
In value terms, fish; live, ornamental, freshwater exports dropped dramatically to $18M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 8.4% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $24M, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
