Price for Flax; Hackled or Otherwise Processed, But Not Spun in Belarus (FOB) - 2022
The average export price for flax; hackled or otherwise processed, but not spuns stood at $1,221 per ton in March 2022, rising by 3.4% against the previous month. Over the period from March 2021 to March 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in September 2021 when the average export price increased by 12% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $1,241 per ton in December 2021; afterwards, it flattened through to March 2022.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($1,962 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($732 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average import price for flax; hackled or otherwise processed, but not spuns amounted to $1,650 per ton, surging by 4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average import price increased by 64%. The import price peaked at $4,565 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($2,475 per ton), while the price for Russia ($1,577 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Flax; Hackled or Otherwise Processed, But Not Spun in Belarus
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of flax; hackled or otherwise processed, but not spuns decreased by -28.8% to 5.8K tons in 2022. In general, exports saw a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 23%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 8.1K tons, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
