Price for Flax, Tow and Waste in Brazil (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average flax, tow and waste export price amounted to $2,026 per ton, waning by -21.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a slight decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 61% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $4,361 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($4,253 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cook Islands ($1,168 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+24.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average flax, tow and waste import price stood at $11,500 per ton in 2022, dropping by -13.9% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.3%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 14%. The import price peaked at $13,364 per ton in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Spain.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Italy amounted to +5.5% per year.
