In 2022, the average import price for flour and meal; of potatoeses amounted to $1,833 per ton, declining by -29.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 154% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,612 per ton, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Africa ($11,509 per ton), while the price for India ($1,366 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
