Over the period under review, the export price faced a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price decreased by -18.4% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $2,143 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Antigua and Barbuda.

For the fourth year in a row, the Dominican Republic recorded growth in shipments abroad of food preparations; sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers, whether or not containing cocoa, which increased by 20% to 83 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +20.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +72.8% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, exports of food preparations; sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers, whether or not containing cocoa fell to $23K in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a noticeable downturn. The smallest decline of -2.1% was in 2021.
