In 2022, the average import price for fresh or chilled bone-in cuts (excluding carcasses and half-carcasses) of bovine meat amounted to $2,351 per ton, declining by -14.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a precipitous descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 35%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $15,353 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($1,672 per ton), while the price for Australia totaled $1,500 per ton.
From 2015 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+61.1%).

Overall, imports saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 174% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, imports of fresh or chilled bone-in cuts (excluding carcasses and half-carcasses) of bovine meat shrank to $917 in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -36.8% against 2020 indices.
