In October 2023, the average export price for fresh or chilled sheep (excluding lamb) carcasses and half-carcasseses amounted to $8,257 per ton, rising by 7.9% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 18% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $9,466 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to October 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($8,484 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($5,221 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
