The average export price for fresh or chilled witloff chicory stood at $2,137 per ton in June 2023, shrinking by -23.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 an increase of 17% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $2,800 per ton, and then shrank notably in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($3,928 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($1,074 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for fresh or chilled witloff chicory stood at $2,195 per ton in May 2023, falling by -2% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 26% m-o-m. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,240 per ton, and then fell slightly in the following month.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In May 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Spain ($2,293 per ton) and Belgium ($2,191 per ton), while the price for Germany ($2,009 per ton) and Italy ($2,124 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From May 2022 to May 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
