The average import price for frozen bone-in cuts (excluding carcasses and half-carcasses) of bovine meat stood at $2,395 per ton in March 2022, growing by 15% against the previous month. Over the period from March 2021 to March 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The import price peaked at $2,515 per ton in September 2021; however, from October 2021 to March 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,840 per ton), while the price for Spain ($1,921 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
