The average import price for frozen carcasses and half-carcasses of bovine meat stood at $7,202 per ton in October 2023, with an increase of 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated pronounced growth from October 2022 to October 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on October 2023 figures, import price for frozen carcasses and half-carcasses of bovine meat decreased by -14.0% against August 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average import price increased by 86% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $8,370 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to October 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($13,231 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($3,937 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($22,018 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($1,826 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+7.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
