Price for Frozen Crab and Crab Meat in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022
The average import price for frozen crabs and crabs meat stood at $6,051 per ton in March 2022, with a decrease of -7.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a slight curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in July 2021 an increase of 69% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $14,899 per ton in August 2021; however, from September 2021 to March 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was China ($9,349 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($4,208 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (+7.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for frozen crabs and crabs meat amounted to $10,621 per ton, leveling off at the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, frozen crab and crab meat export price decreased by -16.6% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 56%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $12,736 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($15,070 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($2,763 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Singapore (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Frozen Crab and Crab Meat in Indonesia
In 2022, the amount of frozen crabs and crabs meat imported into Indonesia surged to 13K tons, jumping by 74% against 2021. Overall, imports saw significant growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
