Price for Frozen, Dried and Smoked Fish in Turkey (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average export price for frozen, dried and smoked fish amounted to $7,041 per ton, increasing by 16% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($10,747 per ton), while the average price for exports to Jordan ($3,866 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for frozen, dried and smoked fish stood at $1,964 per ton in 2022, picking up by 31% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $2,128 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($10,456 per ton), while the price for Morocco ($691 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+28.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Frozen, Dried and Smoked Fish in Turkey
For the fourth year in a row, Turkey recorded growth in overseas shipments of frozen, dried and smoked fish, which increased by 26% to 97K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 35%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, frozen, dried and smoked fish exports soared to $686M in 2022. In general, exports recorded significant growth. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
