Price for Frozen Fruits and Vegetables in Sri Lanka (FOB) - 2022
The average frozen fruits and vegetables export price stood at $3,069 per ton in 2022, rising by 19% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 42% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Norway ($5,884 per ton), while the average price for exports to Maldives ($1,590 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+14.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average frozen fruits and vegetables import price stood at $1,103 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 14% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($2,152 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($665 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Frozen Fruits and Vegetables in Sri Lanka
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of frozen fruits and vegetables decreased by -37.6% to 1.6K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated pronounced growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last three years. In general, total exports indicated noticeable growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 30%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $6.6M, and then dropped notably in the following year.
