The average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $5,025 per ton in 2022, falling by -2.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 8.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $6,074 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($8,603 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,910 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 when the average export price increased by 25% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $15,123 per ton. From June 2023 to November 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($38,836 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($6,289 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+15.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
