The average export price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $955 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -23.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 26% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $2,464 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($2,288 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($479 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (-2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses stood at $4,974 per ton in 2022, rising by 1.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average import price increased by 12% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,980 per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($6,725 per ton), while the price for India ($3,238 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas shipments of ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses decreased by -21.8% to 4K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 99%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 6.1K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, exports of ginger, saffron, tumeric (curcuma), thyme, bay leaves, curry and other spiceses reduced dramatically to $3.9M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a temperate expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 132% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $7.8M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.
